Legki Yakaru is an organisation founded in 2006 by 86 women from Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Mauritania, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea living in Banyoles, Girona. Legki Yakaru quickly became the reason to leave their homes, gather and get to know each other. The organization is dedicated to inscrease their autonomy and empowerment to fully exercise their human rights as women.
The project HEAL wants to contribute to the prevention, detection, care and support of African women who live in Banyoles and surroundings. They aim to create a space for holistic approach with a intercultural and intersectional approach. In the space, they will focus on healing through sewing and yoga workshops, other prevention actions and acompaniment to women survivors of violence such as polygamy, FGM, sexual abuse and forced marriages.
